I am not an AI expert.
My background is in cloud-based MPP systems—complex, high-scale infrastructure, not neural nets. I work with systems designed to move and query data, not generate it. This blog represents a personal effort to understand the emerging category of large language models (LLMs) from that outsider’s perspective.
I’m self-educating. I’m testing. I’m observing.
This blog will document what I find as I explore the capabilities, limitations, and possible future trajectories of AI systems—particularly those that exhibit traits we might reasonably call “intelligent.” I’ll look at reasoning behavior, emotional nuance, alignment dynamics, and inference quality. Not as an insider looking to fine-tune, but as a systems-oriented outsider trying to ask, “Does this behave the way it says it does?”
To be clear:
- I make no claim to be an AI subject matter expert.
- My goal is not to promote or criticize any particular company, product, or research effort.
- I’m not here to generate hype or sow fear.
- I’m here to reflect what I see, as accurately and usefully as I can.
Sometimes an outside view can surface patterns those inside the system may miss. That’s the hope.
Thanks for reading.
